    This position is responsible for the general clean-up, janitorial and maintenance of the Promega Biosciences facilities. Will be responsible for custodial duties and assist other departments with heavy lifting or moving of furniture, equipment, etc. Will ensure that the kitchen area and the front offices are clean and neat at all times and will keep inventory of kitchen supplies, reordering and replacing when necessary.  May assist the Facilities Supervisor and other departments as assigned in cleaning, maintenance and repair of equipment.


    The primary objective of this position is to keep the Facility clean and neat. Will perform some routine maintenance duties; assist with hazardous waste activities and painting and building repair projects. 


    Mandatory Qualifications:


    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Must have 3 – 5 years related work experience
    • Must be able to provide current clear DMV record
    • Affinity for organization and neatness
    • Computer proficiency
    • Clear written and verbal communication
    • Good mechanical aptitude


    Preferred Qualifications:


    • Familiar with chemicals and industrial equipment
    • Knowledge of hazardous materials, hazardous waste
    • Forklift certification


    Essential Responsibilities:


    1. Operate a high pressure washer to clean production and other laboratory equipment
    2. Empty trash, recycle, and other lab waste containers from laboratories and other areas
    3. Clean lab benches and fume hoods
    4. Assist with set-up and clean-up of company events and activities
    5. Organize and clean kitchen area and maintain supplies
    6. Maintain grounds
    7. Assist with hazardous waste operations
    8. Move office furniture and other heavy equipment
    9. Clean windows, skylights, roof drains, cobwebs from rafters
    10. Assist with restocking and organizing chemical cabinets
    11. Organize and clean storage areas
    12. Assist with organizing, ordering, and storing parts, equipment, and supplies
    13. Understand and comply with all elements of the PBI quality system appropriate for this position.
    14. All employees must complete assigned duties in a safe manner, thoroughly familiarizing themselves with safety concerns, such as reading safety data sheets, wearing necessary protective clothing, including safety glasses, chemical resistant gloves, respirators, etc. All employees are required to attend regularly scheduled safety meetings. Responsible for monitoring safety practices of assigned area.



    • Collect, clean, and dry used glassware and equipment from work areas. 
    • Restock glassware to the proper location
    • Monitor usage and breakage of glassware and inform supervisor if new glassware is needed. 
    • May assist with facility maintenance and repair as directed by supervisor.



    • Reading: Must be able to review and understand written procedures, labels, forms
    • Writing: Must have legible printing with the ability to communicate effectively through notes and emails, and fill in logs and checklists
    • Math: Must be able to perform basic math operations



    • Must be able to move around the entire facility including ladders, stairs, and rooftops.
    • Must be able to lift 50 pounds or more frequently and throughout the day
    • Must be able to carry objects weighing between 25 and 50 pounds frequently and throughout the day.
    • Essential duties require frequent stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling.’
    • Good hearing and vision is required to perform duties.
    • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment such as protective eyewear, respirator, lab coat, gloves, safety shoes, or other PPE as required.
    • Must be able to work in hot or cold environments.




    • Work areas include the entire facility.
    • Exposure to fumes from chemicals. Because all processes are conducted according to safety and environmental procedure, exposures are minimal and below OSHA levels as found in Safety Data Sheets.
    • Exposure to hot or cold temperatures may occur.
    • Exposure to noise may occur.
